Bananadu is an great success!

Okay seriously guys, what’s more fun than great 80s music, skating, dancing and disco? Nothing right? Good answer.

Well, Los Arboles hosted Bananadu on Monday night (modeled after Xanadu the movie). Another amazing build by Banana. And the best thing? It brought together a somewhat fractured podcasting community. Everyone had a blast!

I asked Crap Mariner to take some photos for me because I’ve been crashing lately when I take photos in lag. He kindly agreed and you can find some great shots here at his blog.

Here are a few of my favorite shots:

Stay tuned for announcement of next month’s event at Los Arboles, but in the meantime, all girls should drop by the sim for the first ever Smartie Pants Sisters gathering, skydiving and a chance to meet the sisters. Will be happening Thursday, April 26th from 4 to 6 PM SLT. IM me for a teleport or grab the teleport from events (will be listed later tonight if I can ever log in).

recent happenings…

So in recent weeks, writing here has just seemed to be overwhelming. Here are a few recent events…besides the one I just posted. 😉

  • The Dixie Rebels auction was a great success due to the efforts of Seaway, Mystic, Marissa and Lachlan. The auction helped to generate 200,000L in donations! Tamara Kirshner auctioned of a date with herself, that date alone earned a donation of 61000L! Thank you so much Tam for joining us for the cause!!!! I’m so proud of you! (And hopefully it didn’t make Crap too jealous, he still loves you, you know?)
  • I mentioned our housewarming party! We moved onto Quiet Island and invited a few friends over for a little get together at the beach! It was a lovely time, especially those super duper floatable rafts that my friends Phryne and Dom tossed out! You can see Rich enjoying himself on one, I think we relaxed him enough for his concert!
  • The Nowhereville concert series kicked off with Rich Desoto playing his awesome tunes. Nowhereville Consert series will also be recorded and podcast for your later enjoyment! Something I’m thrilled to hear! Stay tuned for the next concert, but in the meantime, head on over to the Bucket “Genric” party on Friday night!
  • On Monday is the event I’ve been waiting for and waiting for, Bananadu happens the 23rd from 6 to 8 PM SLT at Los Arboles! Skating and disco and music and fun with friends? What more could a girl want?

And don’t forget to love your podcasters! Check out BUCKETpodcast, GBAffair, Going Broke, 100 Word Stories, That Tickles, and High Orbit!

announcement

I spoke about partnering a while ago when I started this blog.  I have very specific feelings about it and wanted to get them out and share them with the collective.  Of course, I’ve mentioned my sweetie.  We recently had our housewarming party after finding the perfect house together.  Then, a few evenings ago he asked me to partner with him in a very sweet way.  It was perfect and we’re very happy together.

many thanks…

This is a very important entry for me to write and it’s taken time to get it just right, to say what I want and need to say to those involved in this effort. My grandmother is currently fighting against lung and pancreatic cancer. Relay for Life provided me with an opportunity to do something good and not feel so helpless while she fights for her life. It’s thanks to amazing effort that the fundraiser with Matthew Ebel in dedication to my grandmother was such a success, the generosity of the donations and the words touched my heart in a way that is profound and will stay with me for the rest of my life.

First of all, thank you Matthew for your music, your words, your encouragement to donate, and for providing your time, your effort and your voice for Second Life Relay for Life. I am honored.

A heartfelt thanks to my friend Crap Marnier for his role in the creation of the stage and for helping me with all the tasks barked out to him before the event. Couldn’t have done that without you and wouldn’t want to either.

Thank you Madison and Corey (Jen and Corey in RL) for the time, the stream, and the hosting of this event. The beautiful decorations were provided by my teammates, Mystic and Seaway, to turn the amazing outdoor space into the elegant surroundings which we danced the night away. Thank you so much, girls.

A very special thanks to an anonymous helper that made the evening run more smoothly. Your efforts are appreciated more than you know.

My grandmother and my family have asked me to pass along our heartfelt gratitude to everyone that participated and donated during this event. It cannot be said enough! Every single donation helps, it helps raise awareness, it helps in the fight against cancer and goes towards finding a cure. One day we’ll find a cure…..one day.

If you’d like to make a donation you can contact me, I can give you a pledge card or you can simply go to this website.

Radar asked me the other day, is Second Life a game? I can honestly say that the connections that I’ve made and the friendships that I’ve formed are stronger because we share a second life in the midst of our first together. I am very lucky to know that there are such wonderful people who care about me and as a result come together for something so very important.

writer’s block sucks.

I’m back.  Between being busy and having a lot on my mind, you’d think I’d get over not being able to write, but sometimes my flow is like that.  Today will be a series of blog entries on things in the past week (little over, but give me a break 😉

Weeeeeeeeeeeee, I’m back!

looks like I’ve been swept away…

…instead of posting as intended!  Eep!

Things are on track, moving along.   Just busy!

It’s amazing what you can accomplish when SL is down!

I attempted to die in for the first time ever this morning over at Los Arboles with The Goddess and Gomem among others. That was interrupted by a wee bit of a RL thing that took me away for the last 10 minutes. But alas, it’s been a day of RL here so far including laundry and house cleaning and coffee (let’s just say among a host of other things)!

Last night was a Night Full of Crap, hosted by Crap Mariner at SoHo and DJ’ed by Gomem Desoto (yes the real one). Wanting to see a tower of plaid I tp’ed over and found a party going on! Crap even set himself on fire again! It was a fun evening of a party.

Tomorrow is the big concert event for Relay for Life on Nowhereville. Second Life being down does not help me manage some of the stuff I need to in world today but hopefully things won’t be too bumpy when we come back up. I still have some things I can do offline to prepare. If you haven’t, get your finest dress on and come join us tomorrow at 7 PM SLT!!! You don’t wanna miss Hali Heron if you can help it. If you don’t get a group notice from me, then feel free to IM me (Chel Pixie) or Seaway Brodsky for a tp to the event.

I’ll likely update today a few times, rather than my random weekly postings. 😉

#1 explorer and other news…

Woot! I’ve been been back and forth between #1 and #2 explorer the last few days on slstats.com. Sarah Nerd is visiting as many sims a day as I am so I can’t retain it but it’s nice to take Bela’s position for her for a few days. 😉

So what other news? Well my sweet team leader, Seaway Brodsky is the #3 fundraiser in world right now for Relay for Life! Please thank her for all of her hard work on Thursday at the Relay for Life concert on Nowhereville as she continues to push her fundraising efforts to the top! If you’d like to donate in US dollars or know someone that would like to contribute, this is the place to go. (note: the link to the concert is a surl that will take you to the event!) If anyone would like to be reminded about the concert/formal, please email me or IM me in world. I’m going to send out a group notice but they aren’t working well at the moment.

There were some good April Fool’s jokes going around. Crap Mainer (updating: here’s *Crap’s* blog, the other is Laurence’s blog, oopsie me :P) always win the award for cracking me up. Demo Penis boxes on your head are a good way to get a response from people, but the KFH bucket is just far superior an idea. You totally rock. If you like laughing, please go read Laurence’s blog, This Blog Is Full of Crap.
